The Baby Shower

We had Brooklyn's baby shower on the 17th. I say Brooklyn's shower because it was all about her! It was so great that she was there, and her dad was the first man I have ever seen who came to the baby shower, it was so cute. I loved that all the people that have meant so much to me in my life came to see her. The amount of love from everyone was so completely overwhelming! It made me feel even more blessed! People have been so generous and kind and I just don't know how I will ever let them know how much it has meant to me. Brooklyn also came home with quite a load of new cute stuff. Brett and I just sat and stared at everything that was stretched from one end of the room to the other end. I know I keep saying this but I can't tell you all how very thankful we are for all the support and love we have received through this experience and throughout our lives!

The Newlyweds

Brett's little sister, Janell, tied the knot on January 9! Brooklyn and I stayed home since she was so itty bitty, but they had an open house on the 16th in Ballard! It was so great to see the happy couple. David is a perfect match for Janell, and we could not be happier for them. The open house was so awesome. David is very close with a family from Tonga that lives close to his parents home, and they brought their wonderful culture to the open house. It was so much fun to watch everybody dance and to see the ceremonies from Tonga, and the traditional dancing!

It was also great to get to spend some time with Brett's parents. This was the first time that Frank got to see our little Brooklyn, and it warmed our hearts to see how excited they were! Brett's mom actually stayed the night at our house so she could go to our baby shower on Saturday. It was so nice to have her in our home and to watch her with Brooklyn. We truly loved the time that she spent with us, and we can't wait to be able to spend some more time with the Fluckigers!

First Pictures!

My cousin Libbie
offered very graciously to take Brooklyn's pictures for us. She did an amazing job and that's saying a lot since Brooklyn did not exactly cooperate. She was a little fussy and upset but Libbie still got some awesome shots of her and we are so thankful!

Beginnings!

Well Brett and I finally become parents so we figured it is time to start a blog so all our loved ones can keep up with our growing little family!

Okay, so here are the details:
Brooklyn Sue Fluckiger
Born December 30, 2008, 6:16 AM
Weighing 6 lbs 4 oz
18 inches long

And here is the story of our little angel:

We got a phone call from our adoption agency on December 12 saying that a birth mother had come to Utah and she was due on January 12. The baby was a girl and the mother did not want to choose the adoptive couple. The agency called us very first. We were ecstatic to say the least! We gladly accepted and spent the rest of the day trying to track down my mom to tell her she was going to be a grandma (I promised she would be the first to know right after Brett). Then she called everybody and their dogs to tell them the good news.

We were anxiously planning and waiting when we received a phone call on Christmas Eve telling us that our little girl was going to be born a little early. She was coming on Tuesday. Of course we went into overdrive to try to get ready and could hardly believe it was finally happening.

Brett and I headed out to Salt Lake City on Monday afternoon and started waiting for the phone call to tell us to come to the hospital. That call came in at 5:45 Tuesday morning. While we were rushing to the hospital we received a phone call letting us know that Brooklyn had arrived at 6:16 and she was waiting for us! We got to the hospital and got to watch her through the nursery window for an hour while the nurses finished up their paperwork. We were able to take Brooklyn into a spare room and spend the whole day with her. It was amazing! She was so perfect we can hardly believe how blessed we are! We signed the adoption papers the next morning and then we were able to bring her home on Thursday morning!
